5 Types of Granola to Satisfy Road Munchies

We all know it’s practically inevitable…the dreaded road munchies! Have no fear! We’ve come up with five different granola recipes that are perfect for those long trips. Even better, we’ve provided the recipes for you here!

Apple Granola

            6 cups oats

            ¼ cup applesauce

            ½ teaspoon cinnamon

            ½ cup brown sugar

Gather all ingredients and cook them in a regular saucepan it begins to boil. Now, pour the mixture over the oats. Place the unfinished granola on a cookie sheet and bake in the oven for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

Chocolate Granola

            1/3 cup brown sugar

            1/3 cup oil

`            ½ cup honey

            ½ cup cocoa

            3 cups oats

            1 cup chocolate chips

To start, boil the brown sugar, oil and honey. Remove the mix from the heat and add the cocoa. Add the mixture to the oats in a mixing bowl. Bake the granola on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Take the mixture out of the oven and add chocolate chips. Now, turn the oven off and place the granola back in. Leave for another 1-2 hours.

Plain Granola

            ½ cup brown sugar

            ½ cup oil

            ½ cup honey

            1 teaspoon cinnamon

            2 teaspoons vanilla

            7 cups oats

Combine the brown sugar, oil and honey in a saucepan and let it come to a boil. Remove from heat and add in the cinnamon and vanilla. Now, pour the mixture over the oats in a large bowl. Bake the granola on a cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Take the granola out and turn oven off. Place back in oven for another 1-2 hours.

Peanut Butter Granola

            6 tablespoons olive oil

            1 cup peanut butter

            1 ½ cups brown sugar

            7 cups oats

Combine oil and peanut butter and cook on low heat. Bring to low boil and remove from heat. Add sugar and oats and stir. Bake granola on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes.

Pumpkin Granola

            1/3 cup brown sugar

            1/3 cup oil

            ½ cup honey

            ¼ cup maple syrup

            4 cups oats

            1 teaspoon cinnamon

            ¾ cup canned pumpkin

Combine brown sugar, oil, honey and maple syrup in a saucepan. Allow the mixture to come to a low boil and remove from heat. Add cinnamon and pumpkin. Now, mix the oats and sugar/pumpkin mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove granola and turn off the oven. Place granola back in the oven for another 3-4 hours.
