Now Accepting Donations: Holiday Gifts for Little Guys & Gals

6 Years of Blessing Children and Families

For over 6 years, Christine and Joe Kicos have organized a holiday gift drive called Holiday Gifts for Little Guys and Gals. The Kicoses are executives here at Liberty Outdoors, makers of the Little Guy family of teardrop trailers. This year, the program is expanding again and we are calling on all of our friends and colleagues to open their hearts and generously donate what they can to help out with this year’s drive.

Holiday Gifts for Little Guys and Gals has a very personal origin story for Christine and Joe. 15 years ago their daughter, Lauren Brooke Kicos, was only 2 days old when she died unexpectedly following surgery to correct an intestinal defect. The Kicoses have been donating holiday gifts to area youths in her honor ever since, with the program taking on a large expansion over the past 6 years. “A lot of good has come out of the bad,” Joe said.

With the distribution help of Turn Around Community Outreach, Inc., The Stark County Job & Family Services Department, the Teen Mom Program, and other local organizations, The Kicoses and Liberty Outdoors are organizing this year’s drive around new unwrapped toys, new unwrapped shoes, and monetary donations. Toys and shoes can be for youths ages 0-16, for both boys and girls. Monetary donations will be accepted at the bottom of this post and 100% of the proceeds will go toward the purchase of gifts and shoes.

While this year’s efforts will be focused on toys and shoes, the Kicoses will happily accept any new unwrapped gift item appropriate for boys or girls ages 0-16. New wearable items, such as gloves, scarves, hats, and blankets are always in short supply, and will gladly be accepted.

Shoes are also in short supply. This year, Second Sole Shoes and Apparel will once again be running a “Buy a Pair, Give a Pair” program at their Cuyahoga Falls location. Second Sole invites all their patrons to help by donating new shoes by utilizing this program. All donated shoes will then be given to Little Guys and Gals for local distribution. Last year, through the help of friends, family, and Second Sole, Little Guys and Gals donated over 200 pairs of shoes and hopes to exceed that mark in 2017.

Drop off locations for toys and shoes are located at General RV in North Canton, Ohio, and the Liberty Outdoors Corporate offices in Uniontown, Ohio. There will also be a drop off location for shoes only at Second Sole Shoes & Apparel in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. We ask that any monetary donations be sent directly to Liberty Outdoors by mailing a check or by donating online (see below).

The deadline for dropoff of toys and monetary donations is December 18, 2017. The deadline for shoes is February 1, 2018, but shoes donated in time for the holiday season will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking a moment to read about our donation program, we encourage everyone to help out in any way you can. For any questions about the program, please call Christine Kicos at 1-877-545-4897.

Thank you and Happy Holidays from Liberty Outdoors!
